This is a wonderfully elegant hotel in the city centre of York. The hotel boasts a fully equipped leisure centre complete with swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool spa and gymnasium. The hotel has recently undergone a major refurbishment and investment programme and is easily one of the best hotels in York. (GW 10/2008)

The lobby is large with a touch of grandeur, plenty of modern contemporary seating areas and a grand sweeping staircase.
exterior
Traditional Victorian hotel beautifully outset across landscaped gardens. Parking available for both cars and coaches at the front and is chargeable direct at a fixed cost per day payable direct to the hotel.
restaurant
The renowned Tempus restaurant and Tempus Bar, both provide the finest quality cuisine. The Tempus Bar provides one of the finest examples of the chic design illustrated throughout the hotel. Creating the ideal area to enjoy a drink at the end of a busy day.
rooms
All 170 of the hotel's en-suite bedrooms have been furnished to an upper four star standard to ensure optimum comfort is guaranteed. Generally the rooms are of a medium - large size but vary due to the nature of the building. Rooms are decorated in a neutral stylish design to a high standard.
location
The hotel is located next to the railway Station and close to York Minster. It was built in 1878 as one of the first great British transport hotels. Nestling beneath the city's ancient walls, the hotel stands proud in beautifully kept gardens and has spectacular views overlooking the historic city and York Minster. It is within walking distance of the centre of York and is close to many places of interest such as the Shambles, the National Railway Museum and York Race Course.
