Independent Report
generalA very good, first-class hotel, ideally located for visitors to the old town of York. ** Please also note that the hotel does not accept all male or all female group parties. Bookings may be cancelled if a single sex group is booked or refused entry to hotel upon arrival.** (GW 05/2009)
lobbyThe lobby is rather small upon first appearance but around the corner behind reception is a very large seating area.
exteriorA modern looking, pale brick building, set across 4 floors. Very attractive because the river flows directly at the side of the hotel. Limited parking available at the hotel, but must be pre-booked with hotel in advance. ********************************* Until mid-end of June The main route, Skeldergate, is currently undergoing gas engineering works and parts of the road will be closed to traffic, diversion routes are in place. Please follow the diversion signs which currently bring you into Skeldergate via Fetter Lane. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. *****************************************
restaurantThe restaurant is a large, comfy room decorated in light colours and overlooking the river. The restaurant has a good reputation for its carvery dinners and has a very informal and relaxed atmosphere.
roomsThe rooms are all large and spacious. All are in very good condition, as are the bathrooms. The room has all the facilities one would expect from a hotel of this standard such as coffee and tea making facilities, etc. Rooms are decorated in a simple design with brighter colours but in a good condition. Free WiFi is also available throughout the whole property.
locationThe Queens is located within the old city walls of York overlooking the river Ouse, and within the city centre.
Minutes from York Minster the hotel is perfectly located for leisure guests exploring the city, and also provides easy access to surrounding routes to cities such as Harrogate and Leeds.
