locationThis hotel was built in 1897 for a well known York mill owner. The hotel is situated just a ten minute walk from the centre of York and is perfectly situated for both the city and the surrounding countryside.
generalA well located hotel, ideal for both groups and individual. Please note that the hotel is completely non-smoking, including all rooms and public areas. (GW 07/08)
lobbyThe lobby is small but very elegant, and features many fine examples of art nouveau decor. There is a magnificent oak staircase and Gallery with original stained glass windows, fine oak panelling, frescoes and murals.
exteriorThe hotel is a country manor house and is covered in Ivy, adding character to the building.
restaurantThe restaurant offers a different menu each evening, offering a selection of either English or continental cuisine. There is also a bar which offers snacks throughout the day, and is decorated in an art nouveau style.
roomsThe rooms all vary in size and have all been recently refurbished to a good standard with traditional decor. The rooms have all the usual facilities that one would expect from a three star hotel. Rooms are available in both the main hotel building and also within a separate annex building across the road.
