location
The hotel is has one of the best locations in the area. It is based in the centre of Bowness and on the shores of the Lake Windermere. With it's own extensive gardens, fantastic view of the lake and its village centre location it's convenient whether you want peace and quiet or a piece of the action.
rooms
All of the bedrooms are of a varying shapes and sizes, but the majority are of a medium size and are in a good condition. All have full facilities and some have views over the lake.
restaurant
A grand wide staircase leads to the restaurant, which is brightly and elegantly decorated with views over the lake and the Cumbrian Hills. The Restaurant specialises in British cuisine. Traditional afternoon teas and light meals are also served in the lounge throughout the day.
exterior
Originally the hotel was a Georgian mansion house, which dates from 1830. It has a fine stone exterior. Internally many of the original features have been retained.
lobby
This area is small in size but elegantly furnished and adjacent to a large lounge area offering comfortable seating overlooking the lake.

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, which is used only in summer; snooker and a table tennis table are also available. 09/08db)
