to the heart of the city shopping and business district. Makassar, also known
as Ujung Pandang, is the largest city on the island of Sulawesi and is famous
for the Dutch built Fort Rotterdam, which houses an impressive museum of
colonial times. In the southeast part of the city there are several memorials
of the once mighty Gowa empire. From the exit at Hasanuddin Airport, go
straight ahead for about 100 m then turn left into Jl Perintis Kemerdekaan.
Turn left at the first traffic lights onto Jl Perintis Kemerdekaan and continue
to Jl Ir.Sutami. Get on to the highway. When leaving thehighway, guest will see
the port on the right. About 10 km further along, guest will reach Jl Sulawesi.
Turn left into Jl Sumbaopu, the shopping area. The Mercure Regency Makassar can
be found 100 m along on the left hand side at Jl Daeng Tompo 8.
