The Metropolis is centrally located on the corner of Turk and Mason street, close to Union Square and shopping. The hotel is one block west of the Powell Street Cable Car turnaround and just one and one half blocks from the San Francisco Center (which houses Nordstrom’s).
rooms
The Metropolis offers guest rooms designated with styles of earth, wind, fire, or water, which are immediately recognizable. The image is carefully created with symbolic color, design, graphics and artwork. Rich fabrics and custom furniture complete the picture. Case goods constructed in African Lima with stainless steel hardware, maple framed chairs upholstered in richly colored chenille, and drum shade lighting with turned wooden bases all contribute to an original look that is both striking and refreshing.

The hotel has a restaurant with a southern flair named Farmer Brown's.

The hotel has a black granite-clad entrance, and a dynamic waveform canopy appears to float out over the sidewalk.
