lobbyA very large lobby with wood panelling, antique furniture and original hunting tools and antlers hanging on walls. A regal atmosphere.
exteriorA notorious Welsh stronghold boasting a fascinating history dating back prior to 1277; Ruthin Castle was once a wooden fort that according to folklore was frequented by the likes of King Arthur. The journey to the romantic hotel that she is today has involved kings, queens, nobility and some epic mediaeval adventures along the way.
restaurantBertie's Dining Room boasts prestigious accolades including AA 2 Rosettes for outstanding food and service. Chef Darren Shenton Morris and team specialize in sourcing superior quality, fresh regional produce; procuring seafood from the nearby North Welsh coast including succulent local lamb from some of the best Welsh grazing land, locally grown vegetables, great Welsh cheese and even Welsh malt whisky. There is also the Library Bar, the Cornwallis Lounge (with it's fabulous carved stone fireplace) or weather permitting in Summer, the Bar Terrace and Peacock Garden where you can eat of drink Al Fresco.
roomsThere are a variety of traditional Four Poster Rooms, Double or Twin Castle Rooms and these rates are for the smaller Junior Castle Rooms. locationRuthin Castle is located in acres of its own estate in the heart of the mediaeval town of Ruthin which is only 22 miles west of Chester, 38 miles from Liverpool, 55 miles from Manchester, 104 miles from Birmingham and 102 miles from Leeds. It is located on Castle Street, just off the main town square in the direction of Corwen. Look out for the stone entrance archway.
