locationThe hotel is conveniently located close to downtown Moscow, only 10 min drive from the Kremlin. It was built by Iosif Stalin's order in 1952 as a Russian Empire style complex.
roomsMajority of rooms are very spacious, with high cealings and parket floors, decorated in traditional russian style.Most rooms have a rug,and are clean. Bathrooms are well maintained although dated.
generalFor many years hotel Sovietsly was the official hotel for the Soviet government and therefore it is well known among foreign dignitaries. Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandi, king of Spain Huan Carlos have all stayed here. If you are looking for modern hotel with all modern amenities this hotel may not be for you, however if you are looking to taste the essence of a bygone era this hotel is perfect.Due to its close proximity to the centre the hotel makes a good base for exploring the city.
