The resort offers a wide range of recreational facilities from rejuvenating treatments at the Chi Spa, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzi and plunge pools to aerobics classes at the gymnasium. The resort has 6000 square metres of swimming pools as well as a 500 metre "lazy" river, and children's and toddlers swimming pools. A dedicated "Little Turtles" Kids Club providing both indoor air conditioned, and outdoor play areas, four tennis courts and a dive centre which is due to open October 2006 offering scuba diving, snorkelling, dolphin and whale watching trips, and a marina with berthing for up to 80 boats and yachts. Exclusively located on the bay at Barr Al Jissah, Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa nestles against the dramatic backdrop of the rugged interior mountains and the spectacular waters of the Gulf of Oman. The resort is 20 kilometers from city center and 60 kilometers from Seeb International airport. Early flight arrivals must not expect early check in. The hotel will always try to help, but guests must be advised that check in time is 2pm.
