Independent Report
locationSituated in a unique postion literally overlooking the spectacular River Dee with it's racing white water and leaping salmon. Flanked by one of the oldest roads (A5), the oldest Canals, the vintage steam railway line and the most famous bridge to cross the river Dee, the hotel could not occupy a more beautiful location. Although standing in splendid isolation, the hotel is just 2 miles from the bustling town of Llangollen, and Chester and Wrexham are only 25 and 10 minutes away respectively.
roomsAll 36 rooms have been recently refurbished and are all en suite with a view of either the river Dee or the Llangollen Canal. They are traditional, clean and comfortable and many have balconies overlooking the river, bridge and waterfall.
generalThis is a great little hotel. The comfortable surroundings, a warm welcoming ambience, excellent food and great personal service are a combination that has ensured that guests return time after time. Guests also get complimentary use of the Spa facilities at the nearby sister hotel (Wild Pheasant) up the road in Llangollen.

lobbyThe lobby is small with a small conservatory area leading off with magnificent views over the river.
exteriorThe original building where you enter dates back to the 19th Century whilst the accomodation is a newer annexe with large windows providing guests with great views.
restaurantThe Riverside bar and Restaurant are unsurprisingly named such are their views outside of the big windows. A classical choice of dishes are available from the table d'hote menu as well as the a la Carte choice and really friendly personal service is backed up by good food at modest prices.
