As one of the most luxurious hotels in Russia and also one of the smallest five stars this hotel offers the guests a truly unique experience. A lot of thought and money has been spent on restoring the original design and artwork in the hotel from before the revolution in 1917 and thus offers the guest an unique insight in the lives of the nobility who lived here. The hotel also boasts one of most upmarket casinos in Russia and is opening a state of the art spa and leisure complex in 2009. lobby
The lobby is on the first floor and bright and airy with a slight comtemporary twist with its modern art and red couches, theere is also a seating area where refreshments can be served.
exterior
The building was built in the 19th century and is mid rise in a style favoured by the Russian nobility.
restaurant
The hotel offers two restaurants, one is in a beautifully restored room that epitomised Russian fine dining and the other offers a more relaxed atmosphere on the top floor with glorious views over St Petersburg including an outdoor area open in the summer.

The hotel is housed in a former palace and many of the rooms are spacious with high ceilings, if you are looking for something very luxurious and traditional that gives the feel of staying in a bygone era with all 21th Century amenities then this hotel is perfect. Most of the rooms either look out over beautiful canals and surrounding buildings are onto Nevsky Prospect.
location
The hotel has an excellent location on the corner of Nevsky Prospect and Moika and is within 5-10 mins walking distance from the Hermitage.
