locationThe parador of Hondarribia occupies a solid castle which overlooks the Bidasoa estuary. Founded by the navarese king Sancho Abarca, its current appearance dates from the times of Carlos V. Because the castle is situated on the border, it endured numerous sieges and became seriously deteriorated and hence had to be reconstructed.
roomsElegant bedrooms, picturesque views overlooking the French coast and the sea, which the guest can contemplate from the splendid terrace or from some of the bedrooms, iron lamps and colourful wooden coffered ceilings.
restaurantTypical Basque cuisine that is very varied and plentiful. Among the most popular dishes in Guipuzcoa are cocha de merluza (hake barbels), angulas al pil ( elvers al pil) and for dessert, relllenos de vergara.
