The world-renowned philosopher, David Hume, as well as the famous Scottish writer James Boswell once resided in this very building and you will pass their apparently 'haunted' apartment on the way up this enchanting stairwell. For the elderly or infirm, there is no lift in this property, and there are quite a lot of stairs to the hotel rooms. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT GUESTS CALL AHEAD TO ARRANGE KEY COLLECTION FOR THE APARTMENTS AS THERE IS NOT 24 HOUR COVER. The number to call, preferably one day in advance, is 0800 073 0559. (BL 08/2005)

A fantastic location on the Royal Mile, just a minute from the castle, on the Lawnmarket. The hotel is located in a secluded medieval close.
