The hotel offers the comfort of a country Hotel but with the added bonus of being situated in the city centre within easy access of shopping and so forth. All rates include use of the leisure facilities, i.e. swimming pool and Jacuzzi and also entrance to a local gym. There is also on site parking and complimentary wireless internet access in the Lobby and Tavern Bar. (GW 05/2009)
lobby
The lobby is small in size, but has an extremely welcoming feel to it.
exterior
The hotel was built in 1905 on the site of the original Crown and Mitre Inn which dates back to before the Jacobite Rebellion of 1746. The Inn was demolished in 1902 to make way for the existing Hotel which took 3 years to build. it s a grand and elegant building.
restaurant
The Peace and Plenty Restaurant serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and the Tavern Bar provides real ales and homely comforts for a relaxing drink in the evening.

Each of the 98 bedrooms, have an en-suite bathroom, remote control teletext television with satellite channels, radio, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. Many have additional features such as a trouser press and hair dryer.
location
The Edwardian Style Crown and Mitre Hotel is situated in the centre of Carlisle, adjacent to Carlisle Cathedral, within easy walking distance of Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum opposite the award winning Lanes Shopping Centre.
